Preparation is key

Get everyone involved, have a chat about the session and set some expectations around how long it will take — our newborn mini sessions are a quick 30 minute session designed to take some lovely family photos and a few of bub, whereas our regular newborn sessions can take up to 2 hours so we have lots of time to settle in, grab a coffee, snack or drink from the kitchen, the kids can choose a book from the little library or play with the toys in the toy box.

What to wear?

People often ask what to wear? We suggest a common colour that compliments your family, choose a colour pallet that you all love, and work around what items of clothing everyone has AND feels comfortable in. Soft simple colour pallets often work best, but if you are not sure, bring a couple of options and we can decide on the day - we have a bathroom to change in and plenty of hooks for extra clothing ideas.

If your outfits are new, try them on before hand to make sure they fit, tags are cut off and scratchy fabric can be either changed or a singlet can be put on underneath! Make sure frilly shoulders don’t get in the way of little ones smiles and straps stay up!

What to bring?

The studio is warm, calm, and fully stocked with wraps, props, nappies, snacks a microwave, kettle and coffee machine.

Bring everything you need to feed baby as extra feeds sometimes helps us settle baby. Sometimes a dummy can help us settle baby during posing so having one on hand can be helpful.

Feel free to bring an Ipad or additional entertainment for older kids, we have a toy box and a little library of books too.

Optional extras would be heirloom pieces such as a knitted blanket, a significant cultural item or anything meaningful you’d like included in the session.
